wierd lego

i found this wierd lego pic when surfing the web about a year ago can anyone explain what its even about?

An artist painted a picture similar to that so I would guess that he is copying it using legos.

I belive the artist it is based on is MC Escher. A the artwork was entitled Relativity. It was done sometime in the 1950's I think.
